UNC signee Summers headed for Hargrave Military

? Former Page quarterback James Summers will attend Hargrave Military Academy in the fall, Pirates coach Kevin Gillespie told the News & Record on Wednesday night.

Summers, the 2011 News & Record Player of the Year, committed to N.C. State but signed a letter of intent with North Carolina in February. Internet reports that Summers had failed to qualify and would attend the prep school in Chatham, Va., were confirmed by Gillespie at the N.C. Coaches Association East-West game.

A 6-foot-3, 200-pounder, Summers led Page to a 15-0 record and the Class 4-AA state championship, earning the MVP award in the title game. He completed 93 of 186 passes for 1,506 yards with 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions as a senior. He also rushed for 1,632 yards and 22 TDs on 185 carries.

?I dont get to UNC till January I have to do the first semester at Hargrave and (I don?t know) about the starting situation,? Summers posted on his Facebook page, ?but I didn?t earn a scholarship to watch no one else play.?
