I recently did a teleseminar while I was on vacation. Yes, with modern technology you can even work while on vacation! I?m writing about this because, as an accomplished speaker, I was completely thrown. This was my first teleseminar and I was presenting with Rick Cooper (an accomplished teleseminar guru).?
I was thrown because I was virtually blind and deaf! A good speaker uses the techniques of watching and listening to his/her audience. I?ve been speaking for about 30 years now, feeding off my audience, changing the pace and content to suit them and answering questions as they come up. How do you translate that into a teleseminar? You don?t.
You talk, talk, talk. No feedback from watching your audience?s body language. No questions asked. You just give your information. A 30-minute in person workshop can take 15 minutes on a teleseminar! I know I need to conquer this speaking method because this is the way business owners are educating themselves today. This was my first, but it won?t be my last, especially since my focus is on helping business owners and professionals speak before groups to market their companies. The premise is?basically the same.
I?m also going to get my Toastmaster group involved in this type of training.
Keep watching this blog for more on teleseminar training!?
